England without a king: Cromwell, the Puritans, and the Restoration

It is also the height of puritanism and the start of the British empire. We’ve all heard of Oliver Cromwell, but what did he actually <u>do</u>?</span></span></span></p>

It is a really entertaining decade dominated by a range of extraordinary characters and often bizarre events such as the banning of Christmas. England stepped onto the world stage for the first time as trade boomed and the country prospered under Cromwell’s auspices. Then it all went wrong – why?
