The first half of the course will examine the origins and consequences of the Spanish Civil War (1936-1939). The second part of the course aims to explore and understand the nature of Franco’s dictatorship and how the transition to democracy in Spain evolved.

Description

This course aims to understand the enduring debate about the Civil War in Spanish society by analysing the conflict, its consequences and how they conditioned Spain’s past and present-day society. This course also aims to understand the nature of Franco’s dictatorship and how the transition to democracy in Spain developed.

What can students expect?

This course aims to understand the enduring debate about the Civil War in Spanish society by analysing the conflict, its consequences and how they conditioned Spain’s past and present-day society. Learners can expect to explore the periods of Franco’s dictatorship and Spanish’s transition to democracy through the study of literary works and audio-visual productions. Students can expect to get a better understanding of how recent political events in Spain might have occurred.

This course will be delivered at Stoke Lodge but will move to online delivery if necessary.

Refunds and cancellations

<li>If we have to cancel your course your fees will be refunded in full. We are unable to reimburse the cost of materials you may have bought for the course.</li>
<li>If you cancel your course booking a week (7 days) or more before the start date we will refund your fees minus an admin charge of 20%.</li>
<li>If you cancel with less than a week (7 days) before the start date or after the course has started, we will not be able to refund your fees.</li>
<li>Transfers will incur a fee of 10% and must be requested 7 days or more before the start of a course unless you are transferring to another course because your original course was cancelled.</li>
<li>We are not able to offer refunds due to sickness or ill health.</li>
</ul>

If you are due a refund you must contact the office within 3 months of the course to arrange payment as we do not keep card details.
