Description

Improve your Spanish in this intermediate level course which will give you the opportunity to revise and consolidate the language structures learnt in previous years. You will be able to communicate more fully and fluently on a wider range of topical issues and everyday routine and social situations, and focus on developing all four skills.

What can students expect?

The course will focus on improving spoken Spanish. There will be plenty of opportunity to practice in class, through the use of a wide variety of teaching methods such as games, listening and comprehension exercises, listening to songs, pair work and group discussions. A variety of current topics will be used to learn new vocabulary and grammatical constructions. 

The aim of the course is to improve speaking and listening skills; to learn new vocabulary and to develop confidence in using a variety of tenses and grammatical constructions.

 

 

This course will be delivered at Stoke Lodge but will move to online delivery if necessary.

Late starters allowed?

Yes, provided late starters can work at the same level as the rest of the class at the time of joining

Previous experience required?

Yes, students should have completed Level 1 Spanish courses ( Level 1 A - D ), plus Level 2 A, ie 3 + years, or have an equivalent level

Are there any extra costs?

Yes, a course book may be used. Details will be given at the first session. Yes. Some homework will be set every week, in order to enable learners to reinforce what they have learnt during each session

Work set between sessions?

Yes. Some homework will be set every week, in order to enable learners to reinforce what they have learnt during each session.

What should students bring?

Pen and paper, and perhaps, an A4 ring binder for handouts and photocopies.

A dictionary would be useful, but is not essential.

Teaching method/style?

Communicative language teaching method, involving eg 

- listening to course book CD, the tutor, other students, the radio, podcasts, songs, conversations

- reading texts in course book, newspapers and magazine articles, short stories

- asking and answering questions 

- oral practice in pairs, small groups and whole class work 

- pair work and role plays, group discussions 

- talking about a variety of current topics 

- games and grammar exercises

Equipment Required

Stable internet connection, a PC or tablet if the course moves online.
