Description

This course aims to enable you to communicate in Portuguese in everyday situations. It will revise and consolidate your knowledge of Portuguese at intermediate level and introduce new structures and vocabulary gradually. You will build up your confidence in all four skills, with the emphasis on speaking and listening, as well as learning new grammar and vocabulary.

What can students expect?

Learners will learn new expressions, verbs, vocabulary and grammar, and expand the language to new situations, with the aim to maintain a basic conversation with Portuguese native speakers, and to speak and interact with increased confidence. 

They will also keep learning about aspects of Portuguese culture and customs

Late starters allowed?

Yes, provided late starters can work at the same level as the rest of the class at the time of joining.

Previous experience required?

Yes. Learners should have completed courses at Level 1 or have studied the language to some extent in the past, for app. 3 years.

What is the progression route?

Level 2 B

Are there any extra costs?

Yes, a course / textbook will be used; details will be given at the first session

Work set between sessions?

Yes, homework will be set every week, in order to enable learners to reinforce what they have learned during the sessions

What should students bring?

Ideally, an A4 ring binder for photocopies and handouts; pen and paper; a dictionary would be useful, but is not essential.

Teaching method/style?

Methods and activities such as;

- speaking and listening exercises and games

- reading comprehension exercises

- listening to conversations, course book CD, the tutor, clips from the internet

- oral practice, role plays and conversation in pairs, small groups and whole class
