In questo breve corso visiteremo l’Italia attraverso opere d’arte e le sue città. Andremo a Ravenna con i mosaici bizantini, in Sicilia con i mosaici di Piazza Armerina e a Roma. Andremo ad Assisi e Padova con Giotto. Esploreremo il Rinascimento da Botticelli a Raffaello.

Gli argomenti saranno presentati con video e conversazione in classe. L'insegnante darà materiale da leggere. L’ultima sessione sarà dedicata a un gioco di gruppo con la scoperta di nuovi capolavori d’arte italiana.

 

In this short course we will visit Italy through works of art and its cities. We will go to Ravenna with its Byzantine mosaics, to Sicily its mosaics of Piazza Armerina and Rome. We will go to Assisi and Padua with Giotto. We will explore the Renaissance from Botticelli to Raphael.

Topics will be presented with video and class conversation. The teacher will give material to read. The last session will be dedicated to a group game with the discovery of new masterpieces of Italian art.

What can students expect?

Un percorso sull’arte italiana dai mosaici romani a Raffaello e forse Caravaggio attraverso città italiane come Ravenna, Assisi, Piazza Armerina, Roma, Monreale e tante altre. Gli studenti avranno del materiale da me preparato dove seguiranno la descrizione della lezione attraverso video e letture. Ci saranno conversazioni sull’opera o personaggio. Per questo corso si richiede una buona conoscenza della lingua italiana.

 

In this short course, held in Italian, learners will explore selected topics of Italian Art through tutor presentation, watching videos and conversation in groups and in class. Students will have some material prepared by me where they will follow the description of the lesson through videos and readings. Amongst the topics to be covered will be Roman mosaics in Rome and Piazza Armerina, Byzantine mosaics in Monreale and Pisa, Giotto in Assisi and Padova, and the Renaissance with Da Vinci, Michelangelo and others. 

 

This course will be delivered at Stoke Lodge but will move to online delivery if necessary.
