Description

A course for learners who have studied Italian to a fairly advanced level and who wish to improve their accuracy, their pronunciation and widen their vocabulary to cover many different topics.

What can students expect?

To be in a group, with a supportive tutor, where they will be given the opportunity to take part in discussions and conversations on a broad choice of topics, and a range of activities, such as reading, listening, completing exercises, in order to increase their confidence and knowledge in a friendly atmosphere. 

To build on existing knowledge and to

<li>improve fluency and pronunciation through conversation </li>
<li>improve accuracy through grammar exercises </li>
<li>expand vocabulary through the reading of texts on various topics </li>
<li>talk about practical or topical subjects </li>
</ul>

This course will be delivered at Stoke Lodge but will move to online delivery if necessary.

Late starters allowed?

Yes, provided late starters can work at the same level as the rest of the class at the time of joining. 

Please check with the tutor via the Stoke Lodge office before joining.

Previous experience required?

Yes, learners need to have completed Italian courses at Level 1 and 2, ie have ideally studied Italian for at least 5 years, and be fairly proficient and fluent.

What is the progression route?

Level 3C

Are there any extra costs?

A course book may be used; details will be given at the first session.

Work set between sessions?

Yes, homework is usually set every week. It might consist of reading a text and making a note of new words, completing exercises to practice grammar points, learning new vocabulary, preparing a presentation on a set, or individually chosen topic or personality, or writing a short text. 

Homework is checked in class as an opportunity for explanations and clarifications.

What should students bring?

Notebook and pen.

An advanced Italian dictionary would also be very useful, but is not essential.

Teaching method/style?

A mix of discussions, informal conversation to expand vocabulary and confidence, repetitions of structures and written exercises to improve grammar and accuracy, reading aloud to improve pronunciation, reading articles to expand vocabulary and cultural awareness, listening comprehension practice.

If you cancel

<li>7 days or more before the start date: refund minus a 20% administration fee.</li>
<li>Less than 7 days before the start date or after the course has started: no refund provided.</li>
<li>Enrolments are non-transferable. If you are unable to attend, you will not be able to send another person in your place.</li>
</ul>

Refund processing

<ul>
<li>Refunds for online or telephone enrolments will be made via the original payment method within 14 days of approval. </li>
<li>If you enrolled in the office, you will need to come in with your payment card to arrange a refund.</li>
</ul>

Transfers

<ul>
<li>7 days or more before the start date: transfer minus a 10% transfer fee.</li>
<li>Less than 7 days before the start date or after the course has started: no transfer provided.</li>
<li>All transfers are subject to availability.</li>
<li>Transfers between Language levels may be possible with less than 7 days notice, subject to availability.</li>
<li>Enrolments are non-transferable. If you are unable to attend, you will not be able to send another person in your place.</li>
<li>If we cancel your course, and you wish to transfer to another course this will be free of charge.</li>
