Description

This course at advanced level is suitable for students who have been learning German for a number of years and who are fluent and proficient.

What can students expect?

Learners will improve their, already good, understanding of spoken and written German by learning new, more advanced vocabulary and grammar, and expanding all four language skills, by;

~ taking part in and enjoying fairly fluent conversation about a wide range and variety of topics. 

~ engaging in conversation, sharing points of views, increasing cultural awareness and making comparisons between different cultures. 

~ reading and understanding more difficult texts 

~ practicing and improving listening and reading comprehension at an advanced level

Late starters allowed?

Yes, provided late starters can work at the same level as the rest of the class at the time of joining. 

Please check with the tutor via the Stoke Lodge office before joining.

Previous experience required?

Yes, learners need to have completed courses at Level 1, 2 and 3 A, or have studied German for several years, and have a good solid grounding in grammar and vocabulary

What is the progression route?

Level 3 C

Are there any extra costs?

A course book may be used; details will be given at the first session

Work set between sessions?

Yes. Homework will be set every week, in order to enable learners to reinforce what they have learned during the sessions

What should students bring?

Ideally, an A4 ring binder for photocopies and handouts; paper and pen 

A good dictionary would be very useful

Teaching method/style?

Communicative language teaching approach: 

~ Listening comprehension: eg listening to CDs, clips from DVDs, the internet, the 

 tutor, other students 

~ Reading comprehension: eg reading texts or stories in class and at home 

~ Speaking and conversation in class 

~ Pair work, small group work, whole class work, etc 

~ Pronunciation, vocabulary and grammar exercises 

~ Working on the activities and exercises in the course book

If we cancel your course

If you cancel

<li>7 days or more before the start date: refund minus a 20% administration fee.</li>
<li>Less than 7 days before the start date or after the course has started: no refund provided.</li>
<li>Enrolments are non-transferable. If you are unable to attend, you will not be able to send another person in your place.</li>
</ul>

Refund processing

<li>Refunds for online or telephone enrolments will be made via the original payment method within 14 days of approval. </li>
<li>If you enrolled in the office, you will need to come in with your payment card to arrange a refund.</li>
</ul>

Transfers

<ul>
<li>7 days or more before the start date: transfer minus a 10% transfer fee.</li>
<li>Less than 7 days before the start date or after the course has started: no transfer provided.</li>
<li>All transfers are subject to availability.</li>
<li>Transfers between Language levels may be possible with less than 7 days notice, subject to availability.</li>
<li>Enrolments are non-transferable. If you are unable to attend, you will not be able to send another person in your place.</li>
<li>If we cancel your course, and you wish to transfer to another course this will be free of charge.</li>
