Description

<p><span style="font-size:16px">This course is for students who have some basic knowledge of German, and is not suitable for complete beginners.</span></p>

<p><span style="font-size:16px">The course aims to consolidate and develop students’ basic knowledge of German.</span></p>

What can students expect?

<p><span style="font-size:16px">Combining all aspects of language learning, your teacher will provide you with the tools to confidently participate in each lesson and make steady and consistent progress.</span></p>

<p><span style="font-size:16px">You will be learning expressions, vocabulary and grammar to enable you to get by in routine everyday and social situations such as for example:</span></p>

<p><span style="font-size:16px">- give specific information about yourself and others</span></p>

<p><span style="font-size:16px">- describe your daily routine</span></p>

<p><span style="font-size:16px">- describe your leisure activities</span></p>

<p><span style="font-size:16px">- ask and understand directions</span></p>

<p><span style="font-size:16px">- buy food</span></p>

<p><span style="font-size:16px">- going shopping</span></p>

<p><span style="font-size:16px">Yes. Learners must have done approximately 90 hours of German at beginners’ level.</span></p>

Are there any extra costs?

<p><span style="font-size:16px">Yes, a course book may be used; details will be given at the first session</span></p>

Work set between sessions?

<p><span style="font-size:16px">Yes. Some homework exercises will be set every week, in order to enable learners to consolidate what they have learned during the sessions</span></p>

What should students bring?

<p><span style="font-size:16px">Pen & paper</span></p>

<p><span style="font-size:16px">An A4 ringbinder for handouts and photocopies</span></p>

<p><span style="font-size:16px">A dictionary is useful, but not essential</span></p>

Teaching method/style?

<p><span style="font-size:16px">The course is based on the communicative / functional approach:</span></p>

<p><span style="font-size:16px">- active student interaction and participation</span></p>

<p><span style="font-size:16px">- emphasis on speaking and listening skills</span></p>

<p><span style="font-size:16px">- also some reading and basic writing activities</span></p>

<p><span style="font-size:16px">- pair, small group and whole class work</span></p>

<p><span style="font-size:16px">- role plays and games</span></p>

<p><span style="font-size:16px">- use of realia, pictures and authentic material</span></p>

<p><span style="font-size:16px">- use of audio-visual techniques when appropriate</span></p>

<p><span style="font-size:16px">- some grammar exercises and homework will be set</span></p>

Equipment Required

<p><span style="font-size:16px">Stable internet connection, a PC or tablet if the course moves online.</span></p>

Refunds and cancellations

<ul>
<li><span style="font-size:16px">If we have to cancel your course your fees will be refunded in full. We are unable to reimburse the cost of materials you may have bought for the course.</span></li>
<li><span style="font-size:16px">If you cancel your course booking a week (7 days) or more before the start date we will refund your fees minus an admin charge of 20%.</span></li>
<li><span style="font-size:16px">If you cancel with less than a week (7 days) before the start date or after the course has started, we will not be able to refund your fees.</span></li>
<li><span style="font-size:16px">Transfers will incur a fee of 10% and must be requested 7 days or more before the start of a course unless you are transferring to another course because your original course was cancelled.</span></li>
<li><span style="font-size:16px">We are not able to offer refunds due to sickness or ill health.</span></li>
</ul>

<p><span style="font-size:16px">If you are due a refund you must contact the office within 3 months of the course to arrange payment as we do not keep card details.</span></p>

<p><span style="font-size:16px">When attending an online course, it is a learner’s responsibility to ensure they have adequate internet access before the start of a course. Refunds will not be given for technical failure of a learner’s home computer or their internet access.</span></p>
