Description

This course is for complete beginners, who have not learnt French before.

The course will introduce elementary key vocabulary and grammar to enable learners to acquire a basic foundation of French and to get by in everyday situations.

This course will be delivered at Stoke Lodge but will move to online delivery if necessary.

Late starters allowed?

Yes, as long as they join before week 3

Are there any set books?

Yes, a course book may be used; details will be given at the first session

Work set between sessions?

Yes. Some homework exercises will be set every week, in order to enable learners to consolidate what they have learned during the sessions

An A4 ringbinder for handouts and photocopies

Teaching method/style?

The course is based on the communicative approach:

- active student interaction

- emphasis on speaking and listening skills

- also some reading and basic writing activities

- pair, small group and whole class work

- role play

- use of realia, pictures and authentic material

- use of audio-visual techniques when appropriate

Equipment Required

Stable internet connection, a PC or tablet if the course moves online.
