Description

Continue to learn and extend your basic ‘survival’ language skills which you can use when visiting any French speaking country. You will be learning more vocabulary, grammar and pronunciation, providing you with more basic knowledge of the language, and cultural background knowledge

This course is for learners who have attended the September French for Beginners, or a similar ‘Get by on Holiday’ course. The course is not suitable for complete beginners.

What can students expect?

This continuation course will extend the range of vocabulary, knowledge of grammar, idioms, pronunciation, and cultural background knowledge.

This course will be delivered at Stoke Lodge but will move to online delivery if necessary.

Late starters allowed?

Yes, as long as they join before week 2

Previous experience required?

Yes, completion of a ‘French for Beginners’ course, or other similar basic course.

What is the progression route?

French Level 1B – Part 1 Beginners Plus

Are there any extra costs?

Yes, a course book may be used; details will be given at the first session

Work set between sessions?

Yes. Some homework exercises will be set every week, in order to enable learners to consolidate what they have learned during the sessions

What should students bring?

Pen & paper

An A4 ringbinder for handouts and photocopies

Teaching method/style?

The course is based on the communicative approach:

- active student interaction

- emphasis on speaking and listening skills

- also some reading and basic writing activities

- pair, small group and whole class work

- role play

- use of realia, pictures and authentic material

- use of audio-visual techniques when appropriate

Equipment Required

Stable internet connection, a PC or tablet if the course moves online.
