Description

This stimulating course aims to encourage you to speak more freely in French by developing your speaking and listening skills and thus reinforcing your confidence. The topics covered will deal with more advanced vocabulary and grammar, and the conversations and debates will lead to a greater understanding of France and French speaking countries.

What can students expect?

The course will consist of activities to enable students to improve their fluency, expand vocabulary and knowledge of grammar. 

Learners should expect to engage in conversation and use more advanced grammar to enable them to use the language with confidence. 

There will be revision exercises and games to practice various tenses and other grammatical points. 

Listening practice will be done by using a variety of media. 

Students will be encouraged to read magazine and newspaper articles and be able to talk about current events.

This course will be delivered at Stoke Lodge but will move to online delivery if necessary.

Late starters allowed?

Yes, provided late starters can work at the same level as the rest of the class at the time of joining.

Previous experience required?

Students should have completed courses at Level 1 and Level 2 A and B or have studied at GCSE or equivalent level at some time in the past, ideally for at least four years

Are there any extra costs?

Yes, a course book may be used. Details will be given at the first session.

Work set between sessions?

Yes. Some homework will be set every week, in order to enable learners to reinforce what they have learnt during each session

What should students bring?

A pen and paper, and perhaps, an A4 ring binder for handouts and photocopies 

A good bilingual dictionary would be useful, but is not essential

Teaching method/style?

Communicative language teaching method, involving eg 

- listening to course book CD, the tutor, other students, the radio, podcasts, songs, 

 conversations, 

- reading texts in course book, newspapers and magazine articles, short stories 

- asking and answering questions 

- oral practice in pairs, small groups and whole class work 

- pair work and role plays, group discussions 

- talking about a variety of current topics 

- games and grammatical exercises

Refund processing

Transfers
