Description

This course aims to enable you to communicate in French in everyday situations. It will revise and consolidate your knowledge of French at lower intermediate level and introduce new structures and vocabulary gradually. You will build up your confidence in all four skills, with the emphasis on speaking and listening, as well as learning new grammar and vocabulary.

What can students expect?

The aim of the course is to develop previously acquired basic French to boost students’ confidence in understanding and speaking French, coping with routine and also less predictable everyday situations and learning to maintain a social conversation. 

Students will revise some grammar and expand vocabulary, and there will be practice in conversation, asking questions and improving listening and reading comprehension skills.

Learning will happen through practical activities involving all four skills: reading, speaking, listening and writing.

This course will be delivered at Stoke Lodge but will move to online delivery if necessary.

Late starters allowed?

Yes, provided late starters can work at the same level as the rest of the class at the time of joining.

Previous experience required?

Yes, learners should have completed beginners' courses at level 1 A, B and C, ie have learnt French for app 150 hours

Yes, a course book may be used; details will be given at the first session

Work set between sessions?

Yes. Some homework exercises will be set every week, in order to enable learners to consolidate what they have learned during the sessions

Teaching method/style?

The course is based on the communicative / functional approach:

- active student interaction and participation

- emphasis on speaking and listening skills

- also practising reading and writing skills

- pair, small group and whole class work

- role plays and games

- use of realia, pictures and authentic material

- use of audio-visual techniques when appropriate

- some grammar exercises and homework will be set

Equipment Required

Stable internet connection, a PC or tablet if the course moves online.

Refund processing

Transfers
