Description

A practical introduction to sewing with and managing Jersey, stretch, and knitted fabrics, such as fleece or T-shirt materials.

What can students expect?

Learn to sew knitted fabrics with confidence.

In the morning, you will explore different stretch fabrics, practising with stretch stitches, appropriate needles—including twin needles—and techniques like attaching ribbing to necklines and hems. In the afternoon, you will apply your skills in a small project: making a pair of fingerless gloves. Machine needles for knitted fabrics can be borrowed or purchased from the tutor. Sewing machines are available, but it is helpful to use your own. Please let the tutor know if you need help getting your machine out of your car and /or if you need to borrow a machine.

Late starters allowed?

No. This is a short workshop so you may miss key instructions if you arrive late.

Previous experience required?

Yes, some sewing experience would be useful.

What is the progression route?

Are there any extra costs?

Learners may want to purchase a machine needle from the tutor.
