Description

This workshop builds on the skills from the 'How to Use Your Sewing Machine' workshop, focusing on more complex stitches and the use of different feet.

What can students expect?

This workshop will be shaped by learners’ interests, beginning with zips. 
Other possible techniques include:

<ul>
<li>Attaching tapes and elastics</li>
<li>Buttonholes and buttons</li>
<li>Invisible hemming</li>
<li>Free machine embroidery (with dropped feed-dog)</li>
</ul>

Knitted fabrics are not covered, but the tutor can offer advice. For workshops on this topic, please visit our website.

Please let the tutor if you need help getting your machine from the car. You may be able to borrow a sewing machine from Stoke Lodge, but it will be less useful as it will not be the same as your machine.

Late starters allowed?

No. This is a short workshop so you may miss key information if you arrive late.

Previous experience required?

Yes. This workshop is for learners who have attended How To Use Your Sewing Machine workshop or equivalent. Learners need to know the basics to get the most out of the day.

What is the progression route?

One of the many sewing courses at Stoke Lodge.

Are there any extra costs?

No. Fee includes fabric and thread for the project and to practise on.

• If you cancel 7 days or more before the course start date: Refund issued minus a 20% administration fee.

• If you cancel less than 7 days before the start date or after the course has started: No refund will be issued.

Transfers

• Transfers must be requested at least 7 days before the course start date.

• A 10% transfer fee applies.

• Transfers due to our cancellation of your original course are free of charge.

Illness and Absence

• No refunds are available for non-attendance due to sickness or ill health.
