Description

Knitted fabrics are exceptionally comfortable to wear, yet they can be challenging to handle. This course offers an introduction to sewing with and managing Jersey, stretch, and knitted fabrics, such as fleece or T-shirt materials.

What can students expect?

The morning will be spent working with different types of knitted fabrics using the stretch stiches on the sewing machine. You will also explore the use of the correct needle and twin needle for knits. You will practise using stretch stiches and joining ribbing to necklines and hems. You will work on a small project making fingerless gloves in the afternoon. Machine needles for knitted fabrics can be lent or purchased from the tutor. Sewing machines are available to use but it’s helpful to you if you practise on your own machine. Please let the tutor know if you need to borrow a machine. Please alert tutor if you need help getting your machine from the car.

This course will be delivered at Stoke Lodge.

Late starters allowed?

No. This is a short workshop so you may miss key instructions if you arrive late.

Previous experience required?

Some sewing experience would be useful.

Are there any extra costs?

Learners may want to purchase a machine needle from the tutor.

Refunds and cancellations

<li>If we have to cancel your course your fees will be refunded in full. We are unable to reimburse the cost of materials you may have bought for the course.</li>
<li>If you cancel your course booking a week (7 days) or more before the start date we will refund your fees minus an admin charge of 20%.</li>
<li>If you cancel with less than a week (7 days) before the start date or after the course has started, we will not be able to refund your fees.</li>
<li>Transfers will incur a fee of 10% and must be requested 7 days or more before the start of a course unless you are transferring to another course because your original course was cancelled.</li>
<li>We are not able to offer refunds due to sickness or ill health.</li>
</ul>

If you are due a refund you must contact the office within 3 months of the course to arrange payment as we do not keep card details.

When attending an online course, it is a learner’s responsibility to ensure they have adequate internet access before the start of a course. Refunds will not be given for technical failure of a learner’s home computer or their internet access.
