Description

This course will build on skills and knowledge learnt in How To Use Your Sewing Machine workshop. Further exploration of machine stitches and machine feet and their uses will be made.

You may be able to borrow a sewing machine from Stoke Lodge, but it will be less useful as it will not be the same as your machine.

What can students expect?

Part 2 will be based on what learners want to cover. We begin with zips, as they are a popular choice for many. Other techniques include attaching tapes and elastics; making buttonholes and sewing buttons; and mastering invisible hemming stitch. Free machine embroidery with a dropped feed-dog is another option. While there are numerous other topics, these are some of the key techniques that can be covered. Sewing knitted fabrics is not covered in this workshop, but advice can be given. A separate workshop is dedicated to sewing knitted fabrics, please refer to our website.

Bring your own sewing machine with the manual if you have it. Please alert the tutor if you need help getting your machine from the car.

This course will be delivered at Stoke Lodge.

Late starters allowed?

No. This is a short workshop so you may miss key information if you arrive late.

Previous experience required?

This course is for learners who have attended How To Use Your Sewing Machine workshop or equivalent. You need to know the basics to get the most out of the day.

Fabric and thread for the project and to practise on will be provided and are included in course fee.

Refunds and cancellations

<li>If we have to cancel your course your fees will be refunded in full. We are unable to reimburse the cost of materials you may have bought for the course.</li>
<li>If you cancel your course booking a week (7 days) or more before the start date we will refund your fees minus an admin charge of 20%.</li>
<li>If you cancel with less than a week (7 days) before the start date or after the course has started, we will not be able to refund your fees.</li>
<li>Transfers will incur a fee of 10% and must be requested 7 days or more before the start of a course unless you are transferring to another course because your original course was cancelled.</li>
<li>We are not able to offer refunds due to sickness or ill health.</li>
</ul>

If you are due a refund you must contact the office within 3 months of the course to arrange payment as we do not keep card details.

When attending an online course, it is a learner’s responsibility to ensure they have adequate internet access before the start of a course. Refunds will not be given for technical failure of a learner’s home computer or their internet access.
