Description

A welcoming and practical curtain-making course for learners of all abilities, helping participants develop the skills and confidence to create curtains for their own home with supportive tutor guidance. Learners bring their own fabric and work on their own project while learning essential curtain-making techniques.

What can students expect?

This practical course will help you develop the core skills needed to make your own curtains, including measuring, pattern matching, cutting fabric, and curtain construction. As learners work on individual curtain projects of different sizes and complexity, progress may vary, and some projects may need to be completed at home. It is recommended that learners choose a manageable project size to suit the course timeframe and transport requirements. The skills and techniques learned can be applied to future curtain-making projects and a variety of curtain styles.

Previous experience required?

Some sewing experience is desirable, although complete beginners can also take part. Beginners are advised to make curtains for a small window as their first project.

What is the progression route?

Learners can enrol on other sewing courses at Stoke Lodge.

Are there any extra costs?

Yes. Learners supply own materials and equipment.

<li>Seam un-picker </li>
<li>Pins</li>
<li>A pencil and a note pad for note taking</li>
<li>Reading glasses if worn</li>
</ul>

Sewing machines are available to use but you may wish to bring your own. If you bring your own, please bring the instruction manual.

Teaching method/style?

Demonstration of techniques, one to one support and advice and groupwork.

Equipment Required

A curtain/fabric retailer can advise on the quantity of fabric required when provided with window measurements. Alternatively, guidance on fabric requirements can be obtained from the tutor through Stoke Lodge.

Course Cancellations and Refunds

If we cancel your course

If you cancel

<ul>
<li>7 days or more before the start date: refund minus a 20% administration fee.</li>
<li>Less than 7 days before the start date or after the course has started: no refund provided.</li>
<li>Enrolments are non-transferable. If you are unable to attend, you will not be able to send another person in your place.</li>
</ul>

Refund processing

<ul>
<li>Refunds for online or telephone enrolments will be made via the original payment method within 14 days of approval. </li>
<li>If you enrolled in the office, you will need to come in with your payment card to arrange a refund.</li>
</ul>

Transfers

<ul>
<li>7 days or more before the start date: transfer minus a 10% transfer fee.</li>
<li>Less than 7 days before the start date or after the course has started: no transfer provided.</li>
<li>All transfers are subject to availability.</li>
<li>Transfers between Language levels may be possible with less than 7 days’ notice, subject to availability.</li>
<li>Enrolments are non-transferable. If you are unable to attend, you will not be able to send another person in your place.</li>
<li>If we cancel your course, and you wish to transfer to another course this will be free of charge.</li>
