Description

Spanish cinema is probably one of the most internationally recognised European cinemas. We will explore some classic and modern Spanish films and delve into a vibrant culture that has produced not only Almodóvar, but a host of talented directors and artists with their signature style and impact on world cinema. Films by Erice, Saura, Amenábar, Simón.

What can students expect?

Each week, you will watch a film and make notes. The group then meets on ZOOM to discuss the film on the day/time advertised. 

This course will be delivered online using Zoom.

Late starters allowed?

This is a short course, so it is best to join by week 2.

Previous experience required?

No. A reflective approach to films and curiosity are a good start.

What is the progression route?

Are there any extra costs?

Yes. Streaming costs for each film (around £3.50 per film).

Work set between sessions?

Yes: watching films, reading articles, sometimes watching clips.

What should students bring?

<li>Notes about the film (film title and guidelines given 3/4 days before each session so that learners can watch it)</li>
<li>Computer or tablet, stable internet connection, ability to use of ZOOM and film streaming platforms</li>
</ul>

Teaching method/style?

Online using ZOOM. Very interactive, debate. Learning from articles and texts about films, questions, theory, interviews. Work in pairs/group.

Refunds and cancellations

<li>If we have to cancel your course your fees will be refunded in full. We are unable to reimburse the cost of materials you may have bought for the course.</li>
<li>If you cancel your course booking a week (7 days) or more before the start date we will refund your fees minus an admin charge of 20%.</li>
<li>If you cancel with less than a week (7 days) before the start date or after the course has started, we will not be able to refund your fees.</li>
<li>Transfers will incur a fee of 10% and must be requested 7 days or more before the start of a course unless you are transferring to another course because your original course was cancelled.</li>
<li>We are not able to offer refunds due to sickness or ill health.</li>
</ul>

 

If you are due a refund you must contact the office within 3 months of the course to arrange payment as we do not keep card details.

When attending an online course, it is a learner’s responsibility to ensure they have adequate internet access before the start of a course. Refunds will not be given for technical failure of a learner’s home computer or their internet access.
