A fun, one-day workshop ideal for beginners. Learn the copperfoil technique and make a beautiful stained-glass dragonfly or butterfly.

What can students expect?

This is an easy and fun introduction to stained-glass; you will learn all the stages involved in making a simple copperfoil piece. 

You will design and make a beautiful stained-glass dragonfly or butterfly light catcher to hang in your window, or even to gift a loved one. 

This course will be delivered at Stoke Lodge.

No, this course is perfect for a beginner.

What is the progression route?

Wednesday Stained-glass courses or the Summer School.

Are there any extra costs?

Yes. Learners will need to purchase coloured glass and additional solder from the tutor on the day, approximate cost £15 (please bring cash on the day). 

Fee includes workshop sundries (e.g. paper, masking tape, tracing paper, glass cleaner, copperfoil, 2 strips of K grade solder, fluxes, patinas, etc).

What should students bring?

<li>Sturdy shoes, no open toe sandals</li>
<li>An apron</li>
<li>Two or three different ideas - these could be pictures, original doodles or sketches of dragonfly or butterflies or any other idea you want to make as a simple decoration.</li>
<li>Lunch</li>

Teaching method/style?

Demonstrations and practical applications. A fun, relaxed, creative environment.

Equipment Required

See list above. Tools and equipment are provided. The tutor can advise you if you choose to purchase any of your own equipment for the future.

Refunds and cancellations

<ul>
<li>If we have to cancel your course your fees will be refunded in full. We are unable to reimburse the cost of materials you may have bought for the course.</li>
<li>If you cancel your course booking a week (7 days) or more before the start date we will refund your fees minus an admin charge of 20%.</li>
<li>If you cancel with less than a week (7 days) before the start date or after the course has started, we will not be able to refund your fees.</li>
<li>Transfers will incur a fee of 10% and must be requested 7 days or more before the start of a course unless you are transferring to another course because your original course was cancelled.</li>
<li>We are not able to offer refunds due to sickness or ill health.</li>
</ul>

 

If you are due a refund you must contact the office within 3 months of the course to arrange payment as we do not keep card details.

When attending an online course, it is a learner’s responsibility to ensure they have adequate internet access before the start of a course. Refunds will not be given for technical failure of a learner’s home computer or their internet access.
