Description

<p><span style="font-size:12pt"><span style="font-family:&#34;Times New Roman&#34;,serif"><span style="font-family:&#34;Arial&#34;,sans-serif">This course is for dedicated intermediate and advanced learners (with at least 3 terms of prior experience) eager to further explore stained glass. It offers an opportunity to develop craft skills, try new techniques, and work on individual projects.</span></span></span></p>

What can students expect?

<p><span style="font-size:12.0pt"><span style="font-family:&#34;Arial&#34;,sans-serif">You will plan and create a leaded panel or window with one-to-one tuition and support, developing your skills in both design and stained-glass making. You will also learn techniques such as kiln-fired glass painting, staining, enamelling, fusing, slumping, copper foiling, and stained-glass mosaic. You will be encouraged to experiment and create test pieces before applying what you have learnt to your final project.</span></span></p>

Late starters allowed?

<p><span style="font-size:12.0pt"><span style="font-family:&#34;Arial&#34;,sans-serif">Yes, but it is best to join by week 2 or 3 to get the most out of the course.</span></span></p>

Previous experience required?

<p><span style="font-size:12.0pt"><span style="font-family:&#34;Arial&#34;,sans-serif">Yes. At least 3 terms’ worth of previous learning.</span></span></p>

What is the progression route?

<p><span style="font-size:12.0pt"><span style="font-family:&#34;Arial&#34;,sans-serif">Learners can re-enrol the following term to further develop their design and making skills or join the <strong>“<em>Stained-Glass Summer School”.</em></strong></span></span></p>

Are there any extra costs?

<p><span style="font-size:12.0pt"><span style="font-family:&#34;Arial&#34;,sans-serif">Yes. Learners will need to purchase materials such as coloured glass, lead, and additional solder and cement for larger panels. Coloured glass can be bought from the tutor or local suppliers. Material costs vary by project scale, but an A3-sized panel typically costs around £55. Fee includes classroom sundries (e.g. paper, masking tape, tracing paper, glass cleaner, kiln shelf paper, two strips of solder, fluxes, white spirit, patinas, glass paints, etc).</span></span></p>

Work set between sessions?

<p><span style="font-size:12.0pt"><span style="font-family:&#34;Arial&#34;,sans-serif">No formal homework is set, but learners are encouraged to research online, develop their sketches and designs, or source materials from local suppliers if they prefer to buy glass directly.</span></span></p>

Teaching method/style?

<p><span style="font-size:12.0pt"><span style="font-family:&#34;Arial&#34;,sans-serif">Formal teaching and demonstrations. Individual support and learning checks and group discussions, books, photos and samples for study.</span></span></p>
